SGD020 | Big Dreams & Lofty Wishes Life Update

Hey, kawaii creatives.

I have the best life update to share with you about my own big dreams, life goals & all that jazz! Tap in & Enjoy~

Say 👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾 to Achieving Your Most “UNREALISTIC” Dreams

If you want to achieve big things, you have to start with big dreams.

So I’ma slide in here to share exactly what that means - big dreams & lofty wishes and how to keep going in the face of fear, and self-doubt.

So What Does It Mean to Dream Big?

Big dreams are the goals that make your heart jump with fear or excitement (or both!). I say it’s best to be scared cuz then you’re in the right space ~

Often, your dreams will make you blush, give you all the butterflies, AND help you expand your worldview - all in a single moment.

Right now, you are aching to bring your dreams to life. You’re probably in that flustering space where they’re so vivid you can taste, touch & smell ‘em. But they’re still so far away that you’re unsure how to rope ‘em in, ready to share with the world.

You know you need to take action. Your intuition says move, but maybe imposter syndrome got you overthinking it. If you’re itching to move, regardless of the gaps, that’s your intuition ... Listen to it.

A few years ago I opened the doors to my studio, Little INKPLAY Shop. No one thought my goal was unrealistic though there was great worry over the money aspect. I started with no money and a dream - but that’s another blog.

My dad was a huge cheerleader and told me he saw my big dreams. And cautiously reminded me to make sure I’m turning my dreams into a brand, business, or something financially sustainable that would grow ME.

Bet ol’ man!

I believe in being in spaces for a long time, not just a good time so when I stepped back to reexamine my goals — I realized that I’m a fc*king visionary prone to dreaming big!

My goals are always outrageous. Those overachiever things give me all the butterflies. But I know that’s where I’ll stay fired up, focused, and motivated to work and make my dreams a reality. And best of all, rid myself of that pesky flustering feeling of my dreams being so close yet so far away.

And YES! I often reach dreams that seem unrealistic. Admittedly tho, I’m almost always in the future and don’t stop enough to celebrate what I’ve accomplished in the present.

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world."

Harriet Tubman

I’ma say this again for the people in the back - wild ambitions will almost certainly freak you out. That means you’re on the right track. A big dream is about wanting more, expecting more, and knowing you can do more than what anyone would call “realistic.”

What Are Big Dreams & Lofty Wishes, Exactly?

They are powerful, exciting, unrealistic dreams that are not only okay; they’re 100% necessary. You won’t always be victorious, but you never know what’s truly possible unless you try.

Big dreams are those things you want for your life. It’s probably things that will make you feel appreciated, helpful, connected, or grounded.

Lofty wishes are the empowering projections you hope for others - oftentimes from your growth or gaps you see within your immediate circles and spaces.

Maybe I’m wrong but I’m sure if your big dream is financial freedom a lofty wish may be to see others tap into their financial freedom as well.

Or take mine for example - I don’t believe in being a starving artist and want to make $1 mil or more from my art. I also want to see other artists reach those same heights of not being starving artists + thriving in their art. (Maybe not $1mil or maybe more 🤷🏾‍♀️ but thriving)

How Do You Start Dreaming Big?

Having a dream is much more than just setting goals and achieving them.

Dreaming big means striving to fulfill that reason — over and over again.

Even if you tick some goals off your list, you’ll find yourself uninspired and unmotivated if you don’t continue to challenge yourself - issa human need — learning, growing, helping others, and following a compelling life vision.

Somehow I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionable.

We all have big dreams and lofty goals.

But you might need a little help figuring out what yours looks like. I was lucky to be able to visualize, but getting it OUT of me is *whoah*

So here's an exercise to help you see yourself and tap into your inner voice

Take out a journal, and dig deep into your heart to answer these questions:

  • What do you want to experience in life over the next five, 10, or 20 years?

  • What kinds of things do you want to do, be, and create in this world?

  • How do you want to make an impact — through your family, your creativity, or a problem you want to solve?

  • What kind of life do you want to look back on from your deathbed?

One of my big dreams just came true - I'm promised to be the helpmate and business partner to an AMAZING man who nurtures my creativity. And we're gonna do (more) amazing things together in art AND life! And guess what?

This was no overnight thing but ...

As long ago as that dream was as a little girl, it felt just like I imagined it would way back then.

Your turn! Ready to make your wildest creative dreams come true?
